I read about GPT Smokehouse in a copy of Bath Life ages ago and have been salivating over the thought of their Dirty Burger ever since! It’s owned by two brothers who imported a smoker from Oklahoma to give their meats a really authentic flavour.
It’s a little off the beaten track on Lower Bristol Road but once inside you wouldn’t think you’re just off one of Bath’s main roads. We went on a warm Summer’s evening so the beer garden was fairly busy and inside was light and bright with different coloured chairs and really comfy leather sofas which I made myself straight at home on.
As the evening drew in, tea lights were lit around the pub and I can imagine it being really cosy in Winter time. We chose to have our dinner in the sofa area but there are proper dining tables and I liked the stools at the bar which would be the perfect place to sit for a pre-dinner drink and chat to the friendly staff.
While there was no contest as to what I was having, I was tempted by the smoked BBQ chicken and the ribs, especially as everything is smoked daily on site. But I love a burger, and I love pulled pork so what could be better than both these things together?! Add crispy smoked bacon and a Brioche bun and I’m one happy pug.
With 6 different burgers on the menu, I think it would be rude not to go back and try them all!
Open Tuesday – Sunday from 12pm.
