Garden Terrace at Abbey Hotel

Today I decided to while away an afternoon at the Garden Terrace outside the Abbey Hotel. As someone who loves to people (and dog) watch this was the perfect location to see the hustle and bustle around Bath this afternoon.

Of course while being out and about I had to sample some of the treats on the new terrace menu….

To start, I had the prawn fritters served with one of my favourites, Sriracha chilli mayo and the chef very kindly also brought out some of the soy glazed ribs to munch on. The prawn fritters were light and crispy, with a slightly Asian vibe while the ribs literally fell off the bone and were perfectly complemented by the fried garlic and crispy shallots. Of course, I needed something to wash this all done with so went for a tasty (and naughtily strong for the afternoon!) Monkey Gland cocktail with gin, Benedictine, orange juice and grenadine.

With the starters whetting my appetite my mouth was watering at the thought of my main course. I like to think of myself as a bit of a burger connoisseur and this one did not disappoint. In fact I may even go so far as to say this is the best burger I’ve had in Bath!! The Aberdeen Angus meat was tender and juicyΒ and served in a soft brioche roll while the triple cooked chips were sensational.

I was stuffed by this point otherwise I may have been tempted by the Belgian waffle with caramelised bananas…instead I went for a G&T with 6’o Clock Tonic – well it was 6’O Clock somewhere!!
